Shoeshine boy

Shoeshine boy.
A long time ago, in the most elegant cafes of the cities, railway stations, hotels of high level, … one could find a peculiar figure, like from the past, the shoeshine boy.
Generally seated, with brushes and creams always ready, with their luscious chamois, … and always a smile from ear to ear.
In their good times people lined up to be the graceful one who sat on the throne.
It was the shoe shiner and for a few minutes he made you feel like an important man, who could look at the rest of the humans over his shoulder like telling them that it was him and only he the god-given to be able to sit and enjoy that unique moment.
When finished the work the shoes will always shine brighter and better than newly bought.
It was one of those experiences that made you feel important, if only for a few moments.

Today there are almost no shoeshine boys left. That is why, on seeing this statue of the shoeshine in Haro, capital of Rioja wine, I have teleported to a childhood that will not return.

Si te gusta viajar, o la fotografía, o la naturaleza, o La Rioja, o el Pirineo, o el jazz, o conversar, o..... Este es tu blog. Solo una obligación: respeto a los demás.
